AGENCY VISION: A dedicated group of professionals who, through a commitment to building partnerships, excellence in customer service and seeking innovative solutions to people’s housing needs, support community efforts and strive to make safe, decent and affordable housing available to New Yorkers.

DUTIES: ¤ Technical section instructing individuals in a range of computer related topics. Programs range from the traditional classroom environment, classes over a teleconference medium, to computer based coaching software. Courses are customized and developed in-house to improve effectiveness.

¤ Traditional training programs such as: Telephone and Public Etiquette, Dealing with an Angry Customer, Effective Writing Skills and other customized agency specific skill enhancing training classes.

¤ Office is responsible for the entire agency’s records management and retention policies, including traditional process improvement and continuous improvement services. These areas include consulting with program areas on better efficiency and storage of records, electronic and paper, for on-site and off-site retention.

¤ Administers all agency tuition reimbursement programs, including federal based tuition support and negotiating unit (CSEA, PEF, M/C, DC-37) funded programs. Assistance is provided to staff in both individual and multiple party groups.

¤ Maintains agency and non-agency training records for all DHCR employees. System keeps an electronic attachment to each employee’s Personal History File (PHF) which records all training. This allows employees and managers to maintain an accurate accounting of an employee’s technical and non-technical skills.

¤ Manages the agency’s participation in statewide training programs, such as enrollment in the Governor’s Office of Employee Relations (GOER) classes, Public Service Workshops Program (PSWP), courses from the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI), and similar education and training opportunities.
