Domestic Violence and the Workplace – Program Implementation: Tools and Techniques for Trainers is intended to support agency trainers who will be providing training on domestic violence in their own agencies. While many agencies are proactively planning or providing domestic violence training, the goal of The New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence (OPDV) is to standardize the message being delivered to all NYS employees. At the June 26th session, training materials that will support a one- hour presentation will be distributed and reviewed.

Presently, the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence (OPDV) is sponsoring “Domestic Violence and the Workplace,” a one-day training program specifically designed for implementation of Executive Order 19. This session is designed for New York State employees who are designated as an Agency/OPDV Liaison, or NYS employees who are designated to provide services to those in need.

As a pre-requisite, all trainers interested in attending the June 26th workshop, must first complete this one-day session with OPDV.

Check the OPDV website at http://www.opdv.state.ny.us/workplace/dv-workplace_trainingflyer.pdf to register for the one-day program.

Your instructor, Joan Faxon has an M.S. in Psychology from Old Dominion University and an M.A. in Human Resources Management from Golden Gate University. Joan has been a program administrator with OPDV for almost ten years working with various systems including NYS schools, child welfare, and health care providers. For the last 18 months she has coordinated OPDV’s domestic violence and the workplace program including collaborative efforts on Executive Order #19, the State of New York Domestic Violence and the Workplace Model Policy, and the training to support the implementation of this initiative by all NYS agencies.
